Manage SKUs in the SKU Generator (Admin)

Updated on

The SKU Generator admin interface is used by website administrators to manage the SKU records that back the Generate SKU process in CRM. Administrators can add new SKU records, edit existing entries, and delete SKUs when the underlying number series needs to be reset.

SKU management is performed only from the admin site at SI SKU Generator. Sales reps and DAS/DAP users cannot access this interface and should route SKU changes through an admin.

Note: Deleting a SKU is destructive. Once deleted, the next Generate SKU call in CRM for the same discipline, product type, and opportunity combination will produce a new identifier. Only delete a SKU when the number series has changed and a fresh identifier is required.

2. Log in with your SI admin credentials.

The site only accepts SI admin accounts. If your credentials are rejected, request a reset before continuing.

3. Once logged in, navigate to the Admin tab to see the SKU records and the add/edit/delete controls.

4. To delete a SKU, select the SKU in the list and click the “DELETE” button in the “ACTIONS” column. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Deletion is intended for cases where the underlying number series has changed and a fresh identifier needs to be created the next time the sales rep clicks Generate SKU in CRM. Do not delete a SKU that is already attached to a live adoption form or quote.

Important: Deleting a SKU is irreversible. The original identifier cannot be recovered. Verify with the sales rep that a new SKU is actually needed  if they only need the existing SKU surfaced again, no deletion is required.

5. To edit a SKU, select the SKU in the list and click the “EDIT” button in the “ACTIONS” column. Update the relevant fields and save.

Edits are appropriate for correcting typos or metadata on a SKU record. They do not change the SKU identifier itself

To add a SKU, click the “+ Add Record” button, fill in the required fields, and save.

Manual SKU addition is rare — most SKUs are created automatically when a sales rep clicks Generate SKU in CRM. Only add a SKU manually when explicitly requested and the entry cannot be produced through the CRM flow.
