As an overall goal, finished-good inventory is to be kept at a minimum and the plant is to operate primarily as a make-to-order facility within stated lead times. In periods where the demand outweighs the plant’s capacity or where a committed lead time would not be met otherwise, building to stock is allowed based on guidance from management. The following outlines the various triggers for production and how each should be approached.
Individual order is received
Scheduled on next available day within stated lead time (standard of 1-5 days). Modpack scheduled daily FIFO.
Scheduled on next available day within stated lead time (standard of 1-5 days). Modpack scheduled daily FIFO.
Bulk order is received
Scheduled before ship date for amount of order.
Redemption code order is received
No action. There is no visibility to these orders for production.
Forecasted order is communicated (drop-ship, etc.)
Pre-build requests are scheduled where possible before the drop date requested.
Blanket Sales order data with no order
No action
Excess demand planning
Only orders approved and communicated by management will be produced.
