Settings Overview: "LMS Integration Via LTI"

Updated on

These settings in the Course Instance page interact with an institution's LMS. They are only active when "LMS integration via LTI" is selected.

Single Sign On

HOL - Authoring - Google Chrome
  • With just Single Sign On checked, when students click the SI link in their LMS, their cloud account is created and signed in automatically.
  • With no other boxes checked, no information is transferred between Cloud and LMS.

Enable Grading

HOL - Authoring - Google Chrome
  • Enable Grading is what allows grades to transfer from the cloud to LMS.
  • This will work retroactively. If an instructor has a problem with grades not transferring into their LMS, you can see if this box is unchecked. If it is, you can check it and all lessons (including ones already completed) will transfer.

Restrict Lesson Access via LTI

HOL - Authoring - Google Chrome
  • Restrict Lesson Access via LTI requires students to access content via specific lesson links that originate from their LMS.
  • If they try to access through the enrollment link in their browser, they will get a warning and all lessons will be locked.
  • Does not override other restrictions for lessons such as date locking or sequential completion.

No LMS restrictions

HOL - Authoring - Google Chrome

This access restriction allows students to order kits and access some lessons (generally the Getting Started and Laboratory Safety lessons) before the class start date.

LMS restrictions exist

HOL - Authoring - Google Chrome

This access restriction allows students to order kits but not access any lessons before the course open date.
