This article will help you determine when the course enrollment link should be provided to instructors and students. There are two reasons to provide Enrollment links to instructors and students. Follow the guidelines below to determine if it is necessary.
1. Provide the Enrollment URL if the institution is not using LTI integration.
If a school is not going to use LTI integration, provide instructors with the enrollment link for students to access their course. Enrollment links change every time an instance is cloned or a new instance is created. Instructors need to be aware that they will need to update this link every semester.
2. Provide the Enrollment URL if instructors want students to purchase the lab kit prior to the LMS course opening.
Some institutions do not open their LMS course until the day before or the day class starts. Some instructors prefer to have their students order the lab kit 1-2 weeks prior to the class starting so students have time to get their kits. In this case, it is appropriate to provide instructors with the enrollment link. Instructors should let their students know that this link should only be used for purchasing the kit. Students do have access to lessons through this link, but they should not complete lessons through this link as their grade will not transfer to the grade book in the LMS course.
