Students sometimes enroll in the wrong course by using the incorrect enrollment URL, either because they found one somewhere or the instructor provided the wrong one. As long as students use the correct enrollment URL, they will be enrolled to the corresponding course.
The only way for a student to be enrolled in the incorrect course is to use the incorrect enrollment URL. The key is to discover how they were provided the incorrect one and then ensure they are given the correct URL to resolve the error.
1. Verify that students are using the correct enrollment URL.
Incorrect URLs are often used by students for two reasons:
- The instructor mistakenly didn't update the enrollment URL from previous versions of their syllabus or are teaching multiple courses and sent a different course's link in error.
- Students searched online for an enrollment code instead of using the one provided to them by their instructor.
Request the mistaken URL to compare it to the course's correct URL. Requesting even the last eight characters (two groups of four) should give you enough information to correct the error by supplying the correct URL to the instructor to pass on to the students.
2. Ensure that students are using the center of the page login.
When a student clicks or pastes the URL into their navigation bar, they should use their domain email on the center page to login.
