The SKU is broken down into 4 sections or codes separated by dashes.
To assign a sku to a new product, follow the rules below
1. The first two digits of the sku should be the prefix/brand code of the kit. The discipline should be used to determine the appropriate prefix using the table below

2. The number series of the sku is determined by the product type.
- If the kit is an experiment-based kit, it will go in the standard series of numbers.
- If the kit is a digital only kit, it will go in the 7 series of numbers.
- If the kit is materials only, it will go in the 9 series of numbers.
Reference the below grid to choose the correct number in the SKU assignment spreadsheet.
Select the next available number on the appropriate tab of the sheet and type your name (and school) in the field next to it to claim the number.

3. Use the table below to assign the discipline code to the kit.
Each discipline has its own 2 letter identifier. Chemistry has 2 sub-disciplines that have unique identifiers.

4. All new kits start with 01 as the version
All new SKUs must contain all 4 parts as outlined in this article i.e SI-10000-AP-01
5. For a consumable-refill kit, the prefix will be SC. The rest of the sku will match the full kit sku, the number, discipline and version.
For example, if the full kit sku is SI-20000-PH-01, the consumable kit will be SC-20000-PH-01.
